SEXTING / OPERATION DUMP / COUNTERFEIT CLOTHING

This training seminar will consist of presentations on three different crime prevention topics and programs.

►Sexting:

Over the last few years, schools and police departments across the country have seen an increase of “sexting” incidents. Southern Ohio even had a suicide involving “sexting”. The Lakota East Freshman school principal, Suzanna Davis and I saw firsthand the effects of sexting and decided to inform kids and their parents about sexting. We put together a presentation outlining the school consequences in our district and the laws in the state of Ohio. This presentation shows what a collaboration between the schools and law enforcement agencies can do to assist students in making good decisions when it comes to sexting.

Presented by Public Affairs Officer Jeff Newman with the West Chester Police Department.

►Operation Dump

(Dispose of Unwanted Medications Properly): A unique approach to preventing the abuse and theft of prescription drugs and the use of expired drugs, Operation DUMP is a program conducted by a conglomerate of non profit groups and local business. The program is promoted as a safe and environmentally friendly way to dispose of unwanted and expired medications. Law enforcement along with a local pharmacist collects, count and package unwanted and expired drugs, preparing them for destruction. As a result, fewer drugs are left in residential medicine cabinets that can be abused or stolen for abuse.

Presented by Officer Matthew Dunn with the Centerville Police Department.

►Conterfeit Clothing:

Product counterfeiting in Ohio will cover – Follow the Money-Criminal Activities Counterfeiting Funds; the Counterfeiters Methods of Operation; How Counterfeiters are Investiaged; and How the Private Sector Works with Law Enforcement.

Presented by Bruce Kingsland of Bruce Kingsland and Associates.
