OCPA and OSU Division of Police Host Golf Outing in Honor of Fallen Officer

A full field of golfers and a beautiful spring day made the Michael Blankenship Memorial Golf Outing a huge success. The event was hosted by OCPA and the OSU Division of Police to remember OSU Officer Michael Blankenship and raise money for crime prevention initiatives at OSU and OCPA. Officer Blankenship, an OSU police officer and OCPA member, was killed in the line of duty 10 years ago while responding to a call on campus.

The outing attracted 120 golfers to the beautiful and challenging Blacklick Woods Golf Course in Reynoldsburg. The team of Chris Diehl, Keith Bales, Chad Rosser and Ray DiDonato, had the low score with an outstanding 13-under round of 59.

In addition to a diverse field from throughout the state, the outing attracted more than 60 sponsors. Platinum Sponsors included OSU Office of Student Affairs, Franklin University, A.D. Farrow Co. Harley-Davidson & Buell, Franklin County Metro Parks and Roosters. Most participants went home with at least one of 80 raffle prizes, and a silent auction with signed Buckeye sports memorabilia and other items drew generous bidding. Nobody made a hole-in-one to walk away with two grand prizes – a new Harley Davidson donated by AD Farrow and $10,000 cash donated by Roosters – but everyone had a great time at the outing and post party that was hosted by AD Farrow’s new NorthStar location.
